olivia, you've already got the answer to 4 - it's MATLOCK!  It's an anagram of CALK and TOM!!

You're doing it again in No.2! The stand you are describing is called a CANTERBURY!! You don't really need any help!!!

I,m too good and dont know it crofter

thanks

Olivia  -  Thanks for your thanks but must leave now, might return later.  I've been looking at Quarrington as a contender for No. 3  -  probably midsummer madness.  Over to you, Crofter.
5. I think this might be Sou-tham-p-ton though I can't quite get it all to tie up. Tiny amount of money is sou; American numeracy is math which would be htam (not tham) if reversed; and ton means fashion - I don't know where the P comes from!

It may be of some help with the towns hotels etc question, so far of the 100 clues I still need 6, of which 2 still need to be hotels, to repeat the 6 here goes:-

1. IN MUSIC PART OF A FIGURE IN WHICH SUBJECT AND ANSWER ARE BROUGHT CLOSELY TOGETHER, HALF AN EM. (between grantham and water newton)

2. TRACE< MIXED UP UNDRESS (canterbury area)

3. THERES ONE IN HOLLOWAY(in the area of heathfield, burlow hampshire)

4. AN OBSOLETE WORD FOR DELAY OR RESPITE, AT THE TIME OF(beachy heas, seaford area)

5. A TINY AMOUNT OF MONEY, REVERSE AMERICAN NUMERACY< FASHION (portsmouth, southampton, eastleigh area)

6. MIX UP POETIC FREQUENTLY AND TO BE INFORMED (somewhere north of towcester?)

sorry 7. MIX TOGETHER SHORTENED WATERPROOF RUBBERISED CLOTH AND A PRIZE WON BY DIVINATION ( I wonder if this could be matlock again as it is the finishing point on the tour, and matlock was tha starting point)

best of luck and thanks to crofter and john alex.

4. Between Beachy Head and Seaford, there is the village of FRISTON - and "frist" is an obsolete word for delay, respite!

5. I also think that mahonia's SOUTHAMPTON is correct - in spite of the fact that it doesn't quite fit.

6. I'm looking for an anagram of OFT and TOLD?

7. This is MATLOCK ( = MACK + LOT)
