A few years I read a series of books concerning the life of very early man which followed the story of a girl rescued by another 'tribe' after her family had all died in a storm. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the author - I know it was a woman - or the title of the first book. I think she was called Jean Aule or something similar. Can anyone help me please?
there were four books came out in the series and we were promised a fifth but that was years ago and I have heard nothing since. there was a film made of The clan of the cave bear but it wasnt much good
The fifth book ,The Shelters of Stone was published in 2002,alexanderd.
There is to be a sixth book ,apparently, but we may have to wait another 12 years because that's how long it took after The Plains of Passage and she is 73 :)
Jean Auel, I have loved all her books so far. It's a lot of years since I first read the 1st book of the series. (Clan of the Cave Bears) I don't quite connect the storm, To me she was kicked out of the clan. She always knew she was different, I think the 2nd book was about her being friends with a horse.
And being lost after all her family had died in a storm, are we talking about the same book? - she was raped constantly, the only thing she loved, was the mother figure who know about herbs.
I must admit that it is several years since I read the first book and I may be wrong about the storm but I seem to remember it as some natural disaster which separated just the one child from the rest of the clan. Maybe it was an earthquake?
I think you are right it was an earthquake and Im sorry but there were 5 books and we were promised a 6th. the film of Clan of the Cave Bear starred Darryl Hannah and it was rubbish
