Hello EV N&Cing Wine Clubbers,
A little late than normal, the site has been rather slow, I did try posting earlier. I spent a while getting my "red hound" the Enigma, but the normal clues were straightforward. Have had a single malt, and now washing a sandwich down with my normal Tempranillo!

Ringer, I think the entry anomalies are related only to asterisked and Spinneroonish entries! But it did throw me for a while as I got 10d quite quickly, 26ac was sneaky, until I realised the first part of the clue was the Enigma!

Pleased to amuse Rollo! Perhaps he is trying to turn things around??? Still looking for an appropriate anagram of the disease and his name.

Devadolly, cynical, moi! That you would even suggest that of me, cuts to the quick! Greatly impressed with the circles you move in, so the McDonalds, or the M&S Cafe on Oxford Street probably wouldn't go down too well!
Sorry am unable to suggest somewhere, unless you want to travel a bit further afield to Kensington, Maggie Jones is really good. It is named after Princess Margaret, and her first husband. It is just off Kensington Church Street, googleable. The calves liver is superb! The atmosphere is really good. Not inexpensive though, lunch for 2, but with wine and pre and post prandials nearly 100.00.
ps I'm not on commission!
A total lack of reference to the DC this week, I am pleased to see, but where are Novalis, and Speravi et al?
just a quick hello .... being back at work recently left zero time for EVing and N&Cing. Hope you're all well, mini is fine and growing well! Must dash, dinner to eat..... will post more tomorrow

Hello Physicsgirl, hope going back to the chalkface wasn't too traumatic, and minipg hasn't been too upset by the change in routine! Where does she go now while you are at work? Still, I assume you will soon, if not even not already, be breaking up for the summer holiday!
Look forward to more from you tomorrow!
Oh good, you are there Physicsgirl (and mini of course) - have just chamged the water in mini's pool in DC (and treated her to another plastic duck) He He He and Doc thought I wasn't in DC..........It's lovely and comfortable do pop in!
Thanks for the info DocHH, Have spent the last 3 years staying in Kensington when at the Proms and we tend to find it too inconvenient for getting to anywhere else, we tend to frequent the BM, Tate Modern, S Bank, City and Westminster areas so have a list as long as one's arm of excellent eateries in those areas but Harley St is rather too near Oxford St for my liking - DETEST shopping (unless it is shoes or bags and even then it is always on impulse) .
EV - haven't had a chance for another look but bathroom floor is finished!
Hello Physicsgirl. Nice to hear from you. Devadolly I thought I saw a waving hand through the mists - but then again I could have mistaken your hand for a cow's tail! Weather was awful, but improved today. I had a good walk today. Fantastic views across Port Erin Bay, plus more encounters with cows.

Yes, I'd have liked grandchildren first, I think, but enjoying having them and handing them back.
Apologies for the late appearance: work, birthday of CB, and installation of new bathoom all took their toll.

Amusing EV this week, I thought (a bit inelegant, in places? I know there was a warning, but ... still, mustn't be hypercritical). Enjoyed a surprisingly good (for the price) Chianti from Waitrose on Sunday, which also slowed down the solving quite a bit.
DocHH, I wish the Burnham solution was even half as sophisticated as your prototype ! Tick box medicine.....I've seen it all now. Devadolly, we've had 2 or 3 very good meals in Sketch in Conduit Street ( check their website ) and recently I enjoyed an Asian meal in Cocoon off Regent Street. Another Italian Pinot Grigio tonight, from M&S.
Thank you for the info DocHH. I tried the web-site - what an unbelievably irritating site it was, I found out nothing about what sort of food and drink was available. Will check it out in the hope that the actual place is les 'edgy' than its stupid web-site!
On summer hols now! Raging cold (NOT SF!!), mini having a nap in the garden, have solved 2 clues from this offering but no time, no time....
Mini has settled well with the child minder for 2 days per week (to be maintained throughout summer hols - first free time for months) and with her Dad for the other day. Returning to work for 3 weeks prior to holiday was okay if a bit awful at first. Gearing up for harvest on the farm. Glad to hear you're all well. We also have a tooth (finally) with another one hot on its heels. Still not sleeping through - I know I need to make a stand - give her water, let her "cry it out" etc. but haven't the will for the battle at the moment, need to catch up on sleep first. Dougal the dog (lab/staffy cross) committed a felony and removed mother duck from mini's bath tub - said duck is now headless, leaving mini with only 2 duckilngs to play with at bath time.
Maybe I'll make a better job of 873?! Is 872 worth pursuing?
Hi Physicsgirl, yes this week's EV is quite fun -read my previous post re ducks and DC very restful! I think I have got the same cold - definately not SF, am refusing to consider it a possibility, there are so many 'worried prima-donnas' around here it's enough to make one scream!
Sorry to hear that you are both suffering, PG and devadolly. Weather here is bad enough to bring on winter colds!! I'm thinking of going on the wagon after last night - two glasses of merlot with a very nice meal at a local pub to celebrate my wedding anniversary then I fell heavily in the car park - turned my ankle on a large stone. Son and daughter fought to be chief first-aider. Now nursing a badly grazed and bruised elbow. Perhaps a small glass of brandy to calm me down ...?
Make it a large one ringer - I will get a foot stool out for you in DC. I think the problem was too few glasses of Merlot, not enough to float!
As I say, I have (what is obviously THE cold) and I happened to mention it a breakfast, so what happens? Himself has just come in and just mentioned (in a rather weak and feeble voice of course) that he thinks he might have a cold too! Aaahhhh!
Men!! (present company excepted) Why are we never allowed to suffer on our own - they always want to be in on the sympathy!
I must admit that the thought of DC is very appealing, though perhaps we should replace mini's paddling pool with a snuggle rug.

Hello everyone,
Glad to see that despite all the ailments and injuries there is still plenty of N&Cing. Get well soon!
Devadolly, have a look at :

http://www.qype.co.uk/place/74005-Maggie-Jones s-Restaurant-London/photos/113014

I had a stilton mousse to start, and the grilled calves liver and bacon was lovely. The menu above isn't the full one, the have specials too
Hi DocHH Looks a nice place, but going the wrong direction for after the concerts and are not intending to go further into K than the RAH, and only on concert nights.
Are off to Canary Wharf one day if fine as I want some shots of the industrial sculptures and the steps down to the various docks from Cabot sq. Might also trot under the Thames and have a wander up to the Observatory in Greenwich.
Ringer, would you deprive a tiny child???? We can have both, absolutely nothing is impossible in DC!
