My laptop is not burning anything at all.. HELP

I'm trying to burn cd's n dvd's and it's not at all.. Can some1 help me, i think its the actual drive itself.. ?
Is there some sort of drive scan i can do too see if there's any hardware errors possibly?

if you go to my computer (or computer in vista) is the CD drive showing at all there

and what are you using to burn the CD's (you do realise that windows can not burn DVD's without extra software?)
