i always go for a p*ss take present, but it depends how seriously you take fathers day. go to the gadget shop or something similar as you can get all sorts of funny things that dont cost you too much. little remote control cars etc always go down well with dads who have never grown up, much like my own. :-)

I think it depends on your dad, spikeybob. This year I went to Woolworths and got him one of those Flash (the brand, not a description) car washing gadgets that you stick on the end of your hosepipe. Apparently it has a 'dry' feature so you don't need a shammy and if you're not happy the first time you use it they'll refund you. Of course, my dad likes washing his car; if yours doesn't it's no good. Anyway, 19.99 for that if it's of any interest. If it isn't to him but might be to you, wait till after Fathers Day when all the dads are selling theirs and you'll get one cheap!

I hate Fathers Day because it's only a month before my dad's birthday and he's a devil for dropping hints about what he wants and then buying it two days before pressie day!

my hubby has no time for xmas, birthdays, fathers day , or anything else, he thinks its a load of crap just designed  for someone to make money, which i agree partly, but he still loves it when he gets his pressies
Funny that, toecrusher, cos my dad and hubby are the same too; yet you somehow get the feeling that if they didn't get a pressie they'd have a big sulk about it - but of course they'd spend all day telling you they weren't sulking and they were glad really!!!

thanks elleroo my dad is always up for a p#ss take so gadget shop here we go and thanks everyone else if he didnt have a battletank of a Volvo estate which he uses for work (joiner) the flash washer is a very good idea its only the muck holding it together
I have got hubby a gift from the kids for father's day and I will wait til his birthday on the 24th! to give him a prezzie. I will give him a card though. I always get the trashy father's day stuff from the kids and a book. 15 limit for it all! This year he has a Purple Ronnie Smashing Dad Mug and Coaster.
i feel a bit guilty i have never bought my dad a gift for fathersday - might have given him a card once (though he knows he's very much loved by us all - most of the time). I just don't really get it as a celebration - where did it come from and when? Hardly any point worrying about my dad though, he doesn't remember is own birthday let alone made up events - too busy wondering around town in his slippers being a mad professor!
