Hi Bottom!  Like many others, I can empathise totally.  I think that 'stuff' has been said about the first 3-6 days of quitting being in a slightly euphoric state; how proud of ourselves...the money we are saving.  Unfortunately the reality of the thing kicks in eventually which may be what you feel now....a bit of an anticlimax and a low as to the future.  I had this too; trust me, it passes and it won't be long before you can't believe you ever smoked the damn things.  Trust me...the worst is over.  Good luck.

Congrats to you & your partner Bottom. I really have nothing more to add as you have been given some excellent advice already. All I can say is 3 of my friends who smoked gave up as soon as they found out they were pregnant. They all stayed off the cigs (& still do) as they said it was one of the things that replused & made them sick them in the early stages, just like some go off coffee, meat etc. Hopefully you too may feel like they did & won't miss it so much.

Fingers crossed for you & good luck.

try this. buy the book.

you will never WANT to smoke again.

Congratulations on all your achievements!  I gave up smoking the day I found out I was pregnant and found the first few weeks quite hard.  However, I personally found it easier once my bump started growing.  The hormone surge at the beginning of a pregnancy is enough to make you go mad without worrying about nicotine cravings as well, but once you've settled into the pregnancy and you start to see your bump expand you've got a constant reminder right in front of you to help you stay off the cigarettes!  Unfortunately my will power waned after I'd stopped breastfeeding my son and I started sneaking outside for a crafty puff once he was asleep, but picking him up for a kiss and a cuddle while smelling like an ashtray just made me feel hideously guilty.  So, I gave up once again and have been smoke-free ever since.  In September I will have been a non-smoker for two years and cannot tell you how good it feels to have finally cracked it!  So, keep going - it gets easier over time and you will be so proud that you are doing the right thing for you and your baby.  Good luck!

I completely agree with Helster. Allen Carrs 'Giving up the easy way' has worked wonders for me by removing the need for cigarettes. Good Luck
congratulations with the pregnancy, if you haven't been to your first anti-natal class yet go along to your local maternity hospital and you will find they run  smoking stop advice on a one to one basis or classes led by midwives, you will find other pregnant mums to be in the same situation and support throughout your pregnancy and after your baby is born.Best of luck
