According to the trusty Commercial Breaks ands Beats website it's called " The Pusher" by Steppenwolf.

Thank you, it's been driving me up the wall. Thinking about it now you have said it, I think it was used in the movie Easy Rider, I'm sure I heard it on the sound track.l
