Hello

Just wondered if anyone has taken escitalopram?

Took my fisrt one today , Doctor said to stick it out and after 2 weeks any side effects should get better.

Anxiety seems a lot worse , is this a side effect?

Listen to your doc hunni, its like everything its gotta get worse before it gets better, ive been on them for yrs, hold in there
SMH13, Escitalopram also known as Cipralex cause surges of adrenylin which cause anxiety. This could last for 2 weeks depending on the individual. The best ssri is Sertraline aka Lustral.

Thank You, I am determined to try and stick these ones out ! Dr says she has seen amazing results for people with anxiety.
I've taken this SSRI for years and tor me, the side effects disappeared after a week or two - do listen to your GP and stick with it, it will be worth it.
Hope you start to feel better very soon.
The Citalopram family of antidepressants take about 4 weeks before being effective. They are also generally regarded as the safest. Hope you feel better soon.
As marie says, it can take 2 or 3 to really kick in, so stick with it if you can.
