My daughter has a standard video recorder, she can record programmes from the tv by pressing the record button but cannot get it to record on the timed recording setting. The clock is set right and as far as i know it is tuned properly...and advise please, been a while since I messed with vcr's.

Simply, without extracting the urine, read the manual!

Thanks Tim, you have probably just answered 50% of the questions on AB.   Gosh, why didn't I think of that.

if you have followed all the instructions on the manual, you should be fine. But you must turn the video to standby or off after programming the time. On other videos u have to press this button which would show a clock icon on the display after programming, this button would also sort of turn the video off.

Hope this will help.

you have to turn off the video after programming the time for the timed record function.

Thanks mystical and jean88.  That was the missing link.  Got it now.   Incidentally didn't have a manual.Appreciate your help

If you let us know the make and model number I can maybe provide a link where you can download the manual.

Just to clear up a mis-conception (which you and 99% of Joe Public believe) Vcr's don't record from the TV.......they record from the aerial.........the TV is only needed to see the on-screen menus and display the picture. You can actually disconnect the TV from the video and it will still record.......so if your TV has broken down just remember you can still record the programme.
