Help needed please as I am at my wits end with this one.

Over the past few weeks I have been getting web pages installing themselves on my task bar and sometimes the pages even come straight onto my screen and no matter what I try I cannot stop this.

I am using firefox browser and have changed to opera as well but it still keeps happening on opera.

It only happens to me as when my wife logs on she never gets anything like this. I have pop up blocker on, I keep running virus and mailware and spyware scans but it always comes back.

One thing I have noticed is that spybot never finds any spyware anymore and it always has found some in the past so I deleted spybot and got superantispyware which did find spyware.

Also last year I had the message keep coming up your computer is at risk download antivurus 2008 which I removed by mailwarebytes but this keeps coming up now and again and I just cant get rid of it.

If you had (or have) antivurus 2008 then it can be a pain to get rid of.

My daughter had this on her laptop about 6 months ago and it totally screwed up her laptop, changing Windows settings, blocking access to certain web sites, altering her network settings, displaying fake virus warnings etc.

I uninstalled it, but it kept re-installing itself.

I know a lot about computers and spent ages trying to sort it out, but in the end I gave up and re-installed Windows.

Cheers vhg it is a bugg@r to get rid off I know but I will defeat it eventually.
