The UK High Street's biggest chemist chain, Alliance Boots, has confirmed former HBOS boss Andy Hornby as its new chief executive. Mr Hornby, in charge of HBOS at the time of the bank's near-collapse last autumn, will start work with the firm from July.

Presumably he will soon reduce Boots to sandals, then to bare feet

i wonder if he will still be getting his 60k a month consultants fee from lloyds tsb...?
In October 2008 he was forced by the government to resign his position after the merger, however he would stay on as a consultant to the Lloyds Banking Group (43% own by the taxpayer) for a fee of 60,000 per month.
it must have been a very tough six months, scraping by.
It's surprising how monumental failure never seems to affect the job prospects of these people. I bet the shop workers at Boots are a little worried.
its Sir Goodwin that was getting some ridiculous pension Andy Hornby is just a former boss of HBOS not the Director.
Here's an analogy:

Suppose that Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United and tried his hand at running a cricket team, only to make a complete hash of it. Would that make him a less attractive candidate to a premiership football team seeking a new manager? I think not.

Andy Hornby has an excellent track record in the retail sector (with Asda) so he seems to be the ideal person to drag Alliance Boots out of the doldrums.
