abu garcia fishing reels

my dad enjoys fishing in the lochs of Scotland for trout + other fish of a similar size so im lookin to get him an Abu Garcia reel but iv no idea where to start! Its NOT fly fishing he does. Can anyone help me out??

If he fishes the lochs and doesn't fly fish , then he "spins"
But why ABU??
Go into a local tackle shop and ask them for a decent spinning reel.
Another but. But surely it would be prudent to let him tell you which would be THE reel of his dreams and buy him that one.
I fish a lot and any time the kids/wife have got me tackle I have told them what i would like.

Not a surprise I know but very practicle.
