Ours arrived yesterday (4th May) in Bedfordshire- the same day as last year and the one before that. Regular as clockwork they are! Proably about the same time as day as well! Watching for them to arrive all day, then suddenly at 4pm there were a dozen or so wheeling across the sky. One of my biggest delights in the birding year!

Ours arrived back last Monday 27/4 (Tyne and Wear) two weeks later than last year, I had 6 sleeping under the carport last night.

You sure about that? Swifts sleep on the wing! They only ever land at the nest site and when collecting mud for nest building. The normal date you quote of around the 13th April seems to be more likely for swallows in your neck of the woods?
I'm in rural Cheshire, and ours haven't arrived yet. Usually we have lots of them, looking forward to them arriving.

hi burnhal, long time no speak, hope you're well.
I've just seen my first swift this morning & came to do the annual 'They're here!' post & you've beaten me to it! They're a few days late, they're normally here for my birthday (6th) but it really wasn't good weather so they're forgiven. Of course they could have been around & whizzed by unnoticed, it wasn't fit for standing & gazing skyward outdoors...yes, it's a high spot of the wildlife year.
We've had a pair of goldfinches around this year too, which is probably no big deal for many but a fantastic first for us.

Would be good to see Cetti on here...(thinking about you!)
