I haven't been formally diagnosed with Menieres. I had been referred to ENT with dizzyness, ear pain, pressure and tinnitus, and was sent for a MRI scan, which came back showing no signs of a tumour. Whilst waiting for my next ENT appointment my doctor has prescribed betahistamine to stop the dizzyness, which says it is for Menieres. Can they test for Menieres? Also I am getting very bloated. Has anyone else experienced this on betahistamine?

Yes, they can test for Meniere's Disease.

Yes, bloated feeling is a side effect of Betahistine (Serc)
I take Betahistine for Mnire's, three times a day.

I did get bloating at first but it passed after a couple of weeks.
I have all your symptoms & diagnosed with Reynauds/arthritis/womb prolapse/kidney stone/diabetis. Will not have internals or mammograms - take no pills or medications but rely on daily 'mind over matter' but got me bus pass. Doc hates me 'cause I wont visit!
Without Nifedipine three times a day, I wouldn't be able to type, dress myself or cook some days when Reynaud's make my hands very painful, tamborine. I know, I tried doing without.

And not being able to get out of bed through dizziness when your bowels have turned to water is no flipping joke.
sorry for you Ethel.....I have bad days but manage to get over them.

If I collapse then will have no alternative but to take medication (kids will force it down me) but while I have my wits - no chance.
I'm on betahistines (and stemetil and flixonase) for menieres and can't say I noticed the bloating but have IBS anyway so wouldn't necessarily link it.

There are a number of tests which can show pressure in your ear, hearing loss and things like calorics where they put water in your ears and see what happens (have had different ones, one with electrodes and one with a thing where they video your eyes).

I have arthritis, osteomalacia and fibromyalgia too so on sulfasalazine and amitriptilyne too.
