2 faced or what , ive known women similar as well though
Women in general are always jealous of another woman either better looking than them or that gets more attention than them.

Shush girls, she's coming ...

"Hi, Zzxxee !!!"

It's possibly down to pack instinct, the group against the outsider, and each eggs the others on to be more nasty. Away from the group, on their own it's unlikely than any one of them would dare say such things to the unfortunate person's face. With some people civilised behaviour is only on the surface, scratch below that and there's some pretty nasty stuff underneath.
Sorry - should have said equally applies to men and women.

zzxxee is pronounced "sexy" ... yes?

Why didn't you say anything, zzxxee, instead of bitching about them here?
it's not just at work zz, look what happens on here with some, one in particular used to be so friendly, that's until I crossed the line with him, and dared to post a thread which he didn't like,,,,,,,,,,and now????
I am a pariah, but I can live with that, it's odd when things are all going their way, but when it doesn't, take cover!!!
people, men and women can be very cruel, I know kids can be, but we as adults should know better, I tend to see the best in everyone until I see the worst,,,lol

Do you ever watch nature programmes, where they show groups of primates grooming each other? This is the human equivalent.

Gossip is human grooming. It allows a social group to bond together with a common purpose, which gives them a feeling of security and belonging. Of course, dynamics in groups shift contanstly, so you never know when the object of the gossip will be in your next bonding group, so you only alienate people with whom you have no potental to bond in the forseeable future.

Groups of individuals thrown together in a work or social situations quickly form these social groupings and bond together, and a popular way to do that is to reinforce their own group bond by enforcing the exclusion of someone else, even though in a different grouping, that person may well be involved as a group member.

It is human nature, and men are just as prone to it. The best way to avoid it is to mix with as many social groups as you can, but don;t actively get into gossiping, just smile and nod, and be non-committal.
