I am a casual worker - only paid for hours worked.
Office hours are 9-5 Monday to Friday, but the company covers 24/7 - staff take it in turns on a rota system tobe on call'.
Good Friday the office is closed and contracted staff are paid for this day; I am on 12 hour 'call-out' midnight to midnight.
I receive a basic 36.00 to cover, and earn additional if actualy called out.
As permanents are off and paid for this day, am I entitled to a day in lieu?
The same question for all Bank Hols inc. Christmas Day & New Years Day please.
Thankyou.

As far as I am aware and having worked as a casual myself, you are not entitled to any paid BH or holidays in lieu

Do you get paid holidays? If not then why should you or would you be entitled ot a day in lieu?

i do earn holiday - it is calculated as a percentage on the hours i have worked i.e. 1 hour holiday for every 10.3 hours worked.
Then this is perhaps inc in your basic pay? Or are you deducted 2 days over the next fortnight?
Employers are under no obligation to give permanent staff a day in lieu, extra money or an extra days holiday,so it is highly unlikely they will give it to a casual
