In terms of 'sima-polarised' bonds or not.... why does haloalkanes undergo elimination easily at low conditions?

Consider whether the base is a poor nucleophile. There are two different mechanisms of action here with the halogenoalkanes. The first is the E1 or unimolecular pathway and the other is the E2 or bimolecular pathway.

This sort of question is far to complicated to answer on AB, principally because there is no method of displaying the diagrams the equations required.
