chicken pox? spots but no other symptoms

i was warned last week that chicken pox was doing the rounds at little CRXs nursery.

since then ive been waiting for signs that hes caught it.

this eve, i have found he has a few spots, they look a bit like blisters or insect bites.

everything ive read on CP though sems to suggest that the spots follow a few days of general illness, fever, lethargy, lack of appetite etc.

little CRX has been fine though, all hes got is the spots (about 20 at mo on his body)

could he still have the pox without the other symptoms or am i worrying for nothing?

hes very upset as hes due to go to the dinosaur museum on saturday to meet a group of friends

he has about 50-60 spots in all so far.

red, my son had chickenpox on his second birthday. we had taken him to a steam railway (thomas mad) and when we got on the train he was clear. gradually, a spot appeared on the side of his nose, then his forehead and just continued to pop out all over the place. if they are blister-like spots then i would say assume the worst. he was covere by the time we got back to the car park !
he wasnt ill before, during or after....just itching for which we used piriton, as recommended earlier.
he's 8 now and still has a smakk scar on the side of his nose from that first spot.

thanks all. We've had a bad night, gave him everything we could, bathed him in bicarb, covered him in calomine, gave him pain relief as he has slight temp but he was screaming pretty much all night and we took it in turns to try and calm him. Amazingly his sister slept through for first time in months LOL
there is just no way of stopping him scratch though he does pat instead when we spot him
I'm in two minds now about whether I want baby CRX to catch it but that's out of my hands

Sorry to hear you've had a rough night.
I'd put money on babyCRX catching it shortly!
My two boys had it as babies and it didn't bother them in the slightest. My daughter had it when she was 3 and we had a nightmare couple of nights with her.
To distract her I used to give her a piece of cotton wool soaked in calomine lotion and let her dab her own spots with it.

Aww hope he feels better soon Red, poor little thing! It must be quite distressful for you both watching him being so upset :o(

2 weeks to the day that my eldest started with chicken pox my youngest who was about 10 months old at the time started too.
I don't know whether it was becasue she was smaller but she was just one big spot compared to my eldest! We couldn't get over how much more covered in spots she seemed to be!
