found some great spectacle frames in wonderful colours but they are the reading glasses ones that you can buy already made up in store. is it possible to take the frame to the opticians and have your own distance lenses put into them? if so, this would mean i could have a few pairs to match different outfits.

Probably but we found that when MIL wanted her old glasses re-glazed the cost was considerably higher than having complete new frames and lenses.
Most places will advise against this for whatever reason. Practically it depends on whether the frames are solid(eg plastic) or have a split which is closed by a screw. The screw type are obviously easier to reglaze
I was quoted at Optical Express a fee of 44 for re-glazing compared to 49 for their cheapest frames and lenses included or 2 pairs fo 69
8.99 at budgetspex.

its an online thing...i have had a few pairs from them and found them to be great
