Outlook express doesn't have a spell checker itself. it uses either the MS office spell checker if that's installed, or if not you need to install another spell checker for it to use.

This is a free one, download and install the full installer first and then the language of you choice (i'd guess that would probably be English)

Thanks, I have downloaded it, but how do I get it to work in Outlook Express, sorry to be so thick........
You need to have taken notice of where it downloaded to on your computer. Try the My Computer/My received files. When you find it just double click it and follow instructions. Once installed it should work automatically when you click "ABC Spelling" in Outlook Express. If that one doesn't work try this spellchecker for OE

Thank you both for your answers, could not get the first one to work but downloaded the one that Wildwood gave the link to and it works like a dream, so cheers to you both !!!
I found that you had to Send the msg first, putting in the Outbox, then click to Open it. The spellchecker then works.
But I think you may have to organise your settings so that messages don't get Sent immediately.
Hope you don't have a friend named Ingrid.....as you get 'ignore' inserted - she doesn't like that!
