Sticky brown bits coming out of shower head!!!

Every time I turn my shower o,n for the first few seconds sticky brown bits come out of the shower head. It clears after about 5 seconds and then is fine but happens every time I turn it on.

I have taken the shower head off and ran the shower and the brown bits still come out so its not the shower head itself.

Any ideas? Water Tank issues?

Really would appreciate some help on this.

sticky brown bits and shower in the same sentence reminds me of 'Psycho!'

i have to discale my shower head as it gets a black residue on it.

thats interesting what zacmaster has posted about the thermostatic valve disintigrating as we have hard water here wonder if that contributes to it.
