Ok so my cat most deffinantly has tapeworms and the only question that all the different tapeworm sites don't say is whether or not I can get tapeworms from the little segments I find on my bed daily. They say the segments have eggs in them so if I swallow one from my bed can I get tapeworms?

No. Tapeworm eggs need an intermediate host such as a flea to bring the eggs to the larval stage.
As said on previous post, you can't get the tapeworms, but what are you doing letting the cat continue to have tapeworms day after day. You need to get medication to get rid of the tapeworm as soon as possible. Leave it too long and your cat will die from lack of nutrition that the tapeworm is taking from the cat's body. Don't delay any longer.
My thoughts exactly - worm the cat straight away and your problem is solved!

Well I called the vet and the soonest they could get him in was Friday, tomorrow so I'm not gonna let him die... I'm not stupid
Brookem. No one though you were stupid. Sorry you took it that way. It was more that people were worried that you were not really aware how dangerous tapeworms are to a cat. So glad he's seeing the vet tomorrow, he'll be a much happier cat once he's had his medication. And you will be happier knowing that he's fine. Just one thing though, if he is a hunter and likely to eat mice that he catches, he will need to have a tablet once every three months to make sure he doesn't get worms again. You can get the tablet from the vet and give it to the cat yourself. I'm sure he's gorgeous. What is his name and what colour is he. I have 3 cats, 2 tomcats a couple of ruffians and one female who's quite the top cat around here. Best Wishes. Schutz.

How lovely, they all sound such special cats. Any chance you could post a photo of them. Would love to see a pic of them.

I would but I don't know how...
No worries. I can just imagine them from your descriptions. Bedtime is calling so for now I'll say goodnight. Take care of yourself and the cats. Perhaps we can chat another day.

I'd kind of like to know who it is I'm chatting with exactly?
Brookem. It is not possible to give out real names on this site. But to put your mind at rest, I am an English lady, perhaps old enough to be your mum. Interested in all animals, cats in particular. I enjoy books, painting, crosswords and puzzles. I especially enjoy reading about other people's cats, and the funny things they do. There are many posts about cats on 'Animals and Nature', some beautiful photos of much loved pet cats, and sometimes sadly there's news of the loss of a loved pet. I hope you and you cats all keep well. Best wishes. Schutz.
