very similar if not identical

theres about a quids difference in buying them

i think

tho may be wrong

that kahlua is the original and tia maria is meerly a brand name

simlar to bacardi being a brand name of white rum

hope this helped?

id use what you have anywyas and not worry
Kahlua is a bit more intense.

You could use Tia Maria for a Tiramisu, no problem.

And to drink on its own, TM is smoother.

But if you were making B52 cocktails, you'd need Kahlua.

ok thanks
Kahlua comes from Mexico, and Tia Maria comes from Jamaica. both are very similar, except that Kahlua contains vodka along with the coffee and vanilla, and the strength of Tia Maria's now been reduced slightly. Of the two, I prefer TM.
That was clever, Icey.

I'm v impressed.

im in scottyland

lol
They are both sugar cane based. Tia Maria is from coffee beans in the
Jamacian mountains. The origin of Kahlua is probably from the middle east,
but now created in Mexico. Cane and coffee beans are the prime ingredients of
both, but the spices used are what makes the diffenence. My guess is that the
faint chocolate flavor in Kahula results from a South American influence

no voddy im afraid icey

Oh bless!!!!
Well out of date answer but still. Since tiramisu is an Italian dessert where the spongs is dipped in espresso coffee and alcohol (marsala) is optional it wouldn't really matter what you used as long as you got enough coffee flavour into it which I'm not sure you would even with Kahlua. I've always used espresso and whatever alcohol was handy (since recipes often include crushed amaretti biscuits the amaretto taste is not unsuitable.)
I'm sure whatever you did worked great anyway: the rest of the ingredients mean it would be hard not to be yummy!
