hi why do some duel carridge ways on the left lane are left lane only and some are left and straight ahead .

depends on the volume of traffic expeted to use each lane - they will try to even out the lane use so if the left turn is used less than the right turn then the straight ahead will be with the left turn lane and vice versa.

mdoo - i am assuming that rtb is talking abouit when the dual carriageway is approaching a junction/roundabout when you sometimes get different methods of filtering the traffic.

Seeing as rtb is unable to spell dual carriageway, it's probably unlikely that s/he has ever picked up a copy of the Highway Code, let alone read it.

I sincerely hope that rtb has not passed a driving test; if s/he has, then this is an extremely poor indication of the level of knowledge required to be able to take control of a motor vehicle.
