I have a 51 plate golf gt tdi with factory fitted cd changer. When i put the cd magazine (that holds the six cds) into the unit and switch to CD on the radio i get a message "no cd magazine". But it is in! VW will investigate but if it is electrical the work will not be covered under warranty and thereofre will cost an arm and a leg. The unit must have power because it ejects the cd magazine. Can anyine please help?

That seems to be a fairly common in VWs and also some Audis.  My boyfriend also has a gt tdi golf (2000) and sometimes has that problem with his changer.  Normally if you switch the unit off and back on it will find the magazine, although you'll sometimes have to turn the car off and then back on for it to work.

We've also had the same problem occuring in an A6 and A6 avant...

What a star!!!!! Disconnecting unit has worked and saved me a trip and a possible bill.

Many thanks
