Windows Live Messenger

Can anyone on answerbank help me please,I took my desktop computer back to factory settings,and now when I try to install windows messenger the format has changed.
I used to talk to my friend in Spain by clicking on a telephone icon on the messenger web page,now that icon and the other icons at the top of the web page has gone so I can't press on the icon that brings my webcam on at the same time,what have I done wrong???????

nothing wrong only not visible if nobody online. If a contact is online you will see format of call etc is still there. So can still click on call in bar above.

Thankyou futritcat,no I can call him and see him,and can hear him but he can't hear me.
