You do not call a kettle a jug even if it is designed as one. If you had kettle shaped as a cat would you state put the cat on. No!
Jugs are used to put a nice cold drink out, like cold tea, water , ice lemonade. Even to pour water out to have a wash if its shaped as one.
Kettles have never ever been called jugs. No need to get comlicated on silly matters.
