Back on round 'gam' for school and 'm' for master
again in favour = back among + m ( for master ) 'schooled' meaning an anagram gives backgammon as the game. (?)

RIght, gam is a group of whales!
I bow to Catron's better knowledge - I had never heard of a 'gam' of whales.

Neither had I - but a gam is a group of whales - hence the school. Very devious!
I can't take the credit :-) the working was given by somebody else - and I had to look up my dictionary before I posted as I had not heard of gam as a school of whales either! Good clue!
