currently Oyster cards not valid from Romford, but they can be used from Upminster on c2c services.

A few weeks ago i used an oyster card from Stratford to Romford which worked ,or can you only use it one way .?
You can use an Oyster travelcard but not Oyster Pay as you go.

Thanks for the responses .This is all a bit new to me having used the car for many years ,but what is the difference between the two cards ,im sure that my Oyster card is just a normall card (allthough i might be wrong )
Do you have a season ticket/travelcard on your Oyster?

Or do you top it up with cash from time to time? PAYG

Both are 'normal' cards

If you have a PAYG card it will charge you 4 when you go through the barriers at Stratford. When you leave Romford nothing will happen - ie you will have paid 4 for a journey that should have cost you 3 if you bought a single ticket. If a ticket inspector had asked to see your card you would have been charged a penalty fare
Question Author
Sounds like i paid 4 for a 3 journey.
All im after is a cheap travel card from Romford to Royal Albert DLR and return ,with a bus from Dagenham to Romford and return .(this might already have been sent ,pc playing-up)
If you use the Jubilee Line between Stratford and Canning Town then a zone 3-6 travelcard is what you need at 25.60 a week

If you use the DLR all the way then zone 2 is needed as well which bumps the cost up to 32.40

Depending on where you buy the travelcard it may either be paper or on Oyster

At some stage Oyster PAYG will become available for your whole journey - but that's some way off

I really wanted to go from Romford to Stratford and then take the DLR to Royal Albert ,as from Stratford i'd have other means of transport if the DLR failed.
Well up to you to decide if the extra 7 odd a week is worth it
Question Author
I'm not that good on tube maps ,but thought that the DLR was in zone 3 and Romford was in zone 6 ,or am i way out .
The DLR goes into zone 2 between Stratford and Canning Town. The Jubilee line doesn't - it stays in zone 3
Question Author
Just to confirm what i hope to do in zones 3-6 ,

Romford to Stratford -Overground
Stratford to Canning town - Jubilee line
Canning Town to Royal Albert - DLR

With a bus from Dagenham to Romford and return ,and hope that they soon allow the Oyster card to be used for the whole journey.
