whilst driving home last night my engine light on my vauxhall vectra kept coming on for a minute every five minutes but after a little while it just stayed on , do you why this is please ?

You need to find a garage with a diagnostic computer. The car will have stored details of the fault and they should be able to read them.

However in my experience they will say it is hard to tell, and tell you to change the expensive Lambda oxygen sensor.

if you know of a well known "honest" garage they will not feed you any BS! look for a garage under the www.goodgaragescheme.co.uk system. The garage i work at is in it and we never say or do things that dont need doing! honesty pays in the long run and thats why our customers come back again.
