I have not found any requests as yet for help with the 2009 Whitaker's Almanack quiz, so any ideas on the following please:

Q4 What institution was voted out after 239 years (could be the Nepalese monarchy, but no reference to it on the Nepal section pages 942-4)

 Q7 If men = 40.7, women = ?

Q8 What was declared open in 2007 for the first time in 29 years

Q10 What links the positions of chairman of the British Film Institute, president of Indonesia and the editor of "Which"

Q11 What was unusual about "The Sun" in 2007-8

Q14 What increased in price by 37 between July 2007 and July 2008

 Q17 Complete the sequence: 1,752, 2,063, 2,118

Q15 quotes 6 July, but page 413 gives 5 July 1948 as the founding date of the NHS. Is this a misprint?

Bethesda, Thank you very much.(I have just put my computer on after a busy morning, and seeing your post is the icing on the cake. ) I have enjoyed this quiz and learnt a lot along the way, also "met" 2 genuine and helpful users of AB. This is my 7th year of doing Whitakers Quiz, I have not won , but I have enjoyed them, and taken in some knowledge. If either or both of you (including 08012006) win, then good luck to you, it was meant to be.

Well done everyone
Bethesda, Well done, and thank you. ( I did post a response around 3pm , but it has not appeared. ) We got there between us. Good Luck to you and 08012006.
just found my 14.52 post (on this page) when I scrolled to the bottom of the last page, and didn`t see my post I thought I had a problem. Then it dawned on me there was another page. I will get better.
I'm not quite convinced of the Mongolia answer. The question asks for the location of the "Grand Hural," but IIRC the Whitakers section on Mongolia refers to the "Great State Hural" or similar (I don't have my copy in front of me).

Am I splitting hairs, or should we look for other Hurals, perhaps in the various "stans"?

for Q4, what instituion was voted out after 239 years, ans pg 943.. how did u guys calculate it? help please :)
Q15: What celebrated its 60th birthday on 6th july 2008? pg 413 says 5th july.. anyone got a diff answer? :)
If you'd prefer to put a single page for the answer to q2, I suggest 1096

Am I thick but answer to question 4 seems likely to be the ill fated monarchy in Nepal but there is no reference to the 239 years or the monarchy having existed since 1769 which it would have had to be abolished 239 years later
i agree with u 'baboy' i couldn't find any reference of the 239 years..but i still wrote that answer and posted my answers!! couldn't find any other alternative answer!

anyways good luck!
