Try a little bit of cooking oil on a cloth. It worked for me on stainless steel. I can`t think of anything else that would be food safe.
My daughter has marble work tops and uses a special marble spray on cleaner. They look lovely.
the best thing I have ever used is by Lakeland. Its called Worktop Wonder & if it seems pricey at over 7 take my word that it lasts for ages. Have a peep at the site,

maybe vinegar?
We have been using teak oil - seems to work well!
WD 40 gives a shiny finish.
