Does my recently installed Norton anti virus automatically deal with worms and viruses, but I've noticed that if I click onto it, it then starts, well sometimes I'm too busy so will a virus get through if I don't open it and use it. My free microsoft antispywear seems to work without me. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question so no yawning please.

Your Norton AntiVirus is normally configured to guard automatically against viruses etc - it lurks in the background (you will see an icon in your system tray like a yellow and black globe - hover your mouse over this icon and it should say "Norton AntiVirus Enabled").

It is a good idea to run a system scan every week or so to make sure your system stays clean.
