In Mark Ronson's version of Valerie, sung by Amy Winehouse, he appears to not be heard on the track singing or playing an instrument, so why did he choose to be jointly credited simply as the producer? What makes him special?

Nothing... he's just a remixer of already half decent tunes...
You could say the same about Fatboy Slim, Moby, Jason Nevins etc etc............................

Really? I didn't realise that (I haven't heard of half of those mind you), Fatboy Slim is an accomplished musician who was in a band so at least has walked the walk, but Mark Ronson just seems to be totally feeding off the talents of others. Are you saying these guys do exactly the same? If so it's gone right downhill. And Moby? Surely not...
