I've been on Freeserve Broadband for 9 months without any problems, that is, until about a month ago when it started disconnecting me, i can connect up but never know whether it will let me stay on for 3 or 4 hours or 3 minutes!  Also, when it disconnects me, I usually have to shut down completely and start again (if i dont, it tells me there is no dial tone).  Could it be something my computer is doing or a problem with the freeserve modem or my wiring? Does anyone have any ideas please?

I wish I knew the answer to this. We have Wanadoo Broadband, and get the same 'no dial tone' problem, following which we have to reinstall the software and restart.
A friend of mine had similar prob with AOL. Turned out he needed to update his Internet Explorer. Perhaps it is available using Windows Update if you're on XP or XP Se!. Go online, click Start, All Programs, Windows Update, follow instructions and let your comp see if it needs any updates available. Hope this works for you :)

Yes on freeserve (wanadoo) do get this sometimes...I phone out to say my mobile for a few seconds... then all ok...if does not work use mobile to phone home...then all ok....does work for me....this does not happen very often but works when it does ...try it...

       hope it helps....

Freeserve/Wanadoo Broadband disconnection - try this in  the following order:

programmes: accessories: communications: dial-up: right-click properties: dialling: then

UNTICK "enable idle disconnect" - you will then be able to stay on line as long as you like. Trish.
