We rent a flat where our lease forbids us to put holes in the walls inorder to hang oictures, and also we are not allowed to paint the walls. We are left with boring, bland white walls. Any suggestions on how we can make our walls look as fun and bright as our furnishings?

You could use a strong adhesive like "no more nails" to fix a picture rail around the room about half a meter from the ceiling and hang pictures from this with wires like this:

Your landlord won't like it but your lease probably doesn't actually forbid it.

Self-adhesive hooks?     Coloured rope lights?

Blu-tack?      Tinsell?

What about some free-standing screens? You can buy them or make them yourself and put whatever you like on them. You can then take them with you when you move as well.

Why not ask landlord if the lease can be amended to allow you to paint walls provided you agree to repaint them white when you leave. Similarly you could undertake to fill any holes (with polyfilla or similar) before you go.

Both these are standard clauses in German leases
