I think, though dont quote me, that the link with a proportion going to Children In Need was stopped after the debacle of telephone vote rigging and other "irregularities" that all the channels rightly took a real pasting for.
Thinking about it I cant recall any mention of money going from voting to Children In Need at all this series.
Well I am only going by what the BBC say....

What a shame. He should have stayed. He gave great entertainment value to the show. Let's face it it is not a serious competion and there are really no losers.

If people really want to watch serious competitions on television then I believe they should campaign to get rid of audience voting completely.
They may be reimbursing voters but no money from the phone calls goes to CIN

One of the priceless moments of the series was when John did the first dance with Kristina. He looked like all his birthdays had arrived at once LOL
It will now be very boring without him!

Once again lofty.... I'm with you (hello BTW). It won't be the same without him. And it IS an entertainment programme first and foremost. The contestants are celebs (albeit minor ones in some cases) and are getting an extortionate fee I don't doubt. I feel they only asked John to do the programme so they could ridicule his weight and puggish looks. I am so glad this has backfired on the Beeb. I think phone in voting should be banned unless ALL the proceeds go to charity or subsidise the exorbitant Licence Fee. The costumes alone for Strictly amount to over 250,000!!!!!!!
Some folks really do need to get over themselves! It's supposed to be ENTERTAINMENT for gawds sake!! No doubt that many people were voting to p!ss off the judges but there were just as many voting for JS & K because they enjoyed watching him and thought he was making an effort!
Perhaps those that want a proper competition should campaign for Come Dancing to come back in it's old tired format. John brought some real life and enjoyment into the programme.

Hi Debbz.
I agree Lofty...Its an entertainment programme...all done for charity..nothing more. If they wanted great dancers every week then why not only invite the National Ballet! The reason they ask the likes of Chris Parker, Fiona Phillips, Kate Garraway, Andrew Castle and John Seargent is for ENTERTAINMENT!!! People in this country need to lighten up a bit...I think the doom and gloom of the so-called credit crunch is affecting people's rational thinking!
