There is so much on here from people grumbling about immigrants and saying they are moving out of the UK - however do they consider that they might cause the same problems in other countries and might not actually be welcome?

oh, I quite agree, Lottie - Australians (one frequent proposed destination) aren't always delighted with discontented Poms pouring on to the tarmac (Australian joke: Q: How do you tell which plane has come from London? A: It's the one where the whining continues when the engines have been switched off.)

But as I'm an immigrant myself perhaps I'm not the person to comment on this!

Ethel - Why would expats be bothered of Spains payouts to IMs.....how does it affect their own finances?

terambulan - because it comes out of the taxes the pay the Spanish government, in exactly the same way I can complain about the UK government wasting my money

whatever floats your boat

Yes leggy, I can vote in the local elections and that's all-
No Ethel we foreigners do not have a voice as we cannot vote in National Elections.
Same here in the UK ..my husband cannot vote in the General Election only local elections and Euro MP elections .He has no vote in who runs the country in spite of living here and paying his way for the last thirty odd years because he is an immigrant .
I never mentioned voting - I said pay taxes.
but, Erhel if one is unhappy with paying taxes for foreigners then one usually shows disapproval by voting against that government, we cannot do that.
Oh Ethel you have become something from Lord of the Rings with my mistyping your name - sorry!
