Does anyone know of a humane/legal way of preventing squirrels from digging up tulip bulbs? Anything I can put around the area that they don't like?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

With the compliments of Mrs Wildwood....

Remove a 1" layer of the soil where the bulbs are planted.
Place some wirenetting down - 1" holes seems to work best - and replace the soil.

The holes allow the tulips to grow through ok, the only problem is that you can not dig down ofcourse to remove weeds, so pulling them up or herbicide spraying is then necessary.

This not only prevent the squirrels from digging the bulbs up, it also decreases the stinking foul deposits from the arrogant neighbour's cats.
Sprinkle the bulbs and earth with chilli-powder. Cover with dog mess.
