Just in case anyone is thinking that the answer is 30 days - after 27 days the snail has climbed up 27 metres (up 3 metres and back down 2 metres = an overall gain of 1 metre per day) ...... on the 28th day the snail climbs up 3 metres and is free ..... so Dinkypuzzled answer of 28 days is correct :P
