The salt light on my dishwasher is still flashing even though I've just poured about 1kg of dishwasher salt into it. I'm happy to add up to 1kg more but I'm just concerned that I may be making a mistake or I might damage the machine if I pour in 2kg of salt. Can anyone help me out please? If it makes any difference, I am quite confident that I live in a hard water area.

you can't over fill it,

just keep adding salt until the salt reservoir is full and won't take anymore.
Yep, keep going until you can see salt in the hole and all the water has come out. It shouldn't need filling again for quite a few weeks if you do.
I have never put salt in my dishwasher.....just used the all-in-one dishwasher stuff. Should I be using salt then?
(Have only had it a little while!)
On some dishwashers, it takes a bit of time for the salt light to extinguish.
