I would have thought to just block ip addresses would be instantly effective.
There used to be a facility to report offensive questions and answers, and if several people reported them they were automatically removed.

By having many many usernames someone could report several times and get an answer or a thread removed. It was therefore stopped so we have to suffer the rubbish, particularly when the site is not being monitored.
So the most popular option so far is banning by IP address. Not such a brilliant idea, sounds great, but is it?

Pop down your local library, create a few usernames, stir up trouble, BANG, that's Birmingham Central Library banned from AB.
Banning IPs will not stop those users who have devices to scramble their IP address or who use software to mask or change it. There are most definetely members of AB who do that and who act innocent but at the same time use their many usernames to cause trouble, report posts that they do not like and chat to themselves to make them seem "popular". Allegendly. ;)
Dearie me, I made a slight spelling mistake there. **definitely**
