I use the metrolink trams to get about in Manchester.

I always pay but was wondering the other day how many people just don't pay as there never seemed to be any checks on them.

We have been ticket checked twice over the last couple of days and everyone on the tram had the right ticket, was well impressed.

Awful that I should be so cynical these days but restored some of my faith in human nature :)

I think that those who use the service on a regular basis would pay and have a valid ticket. You get to know peoples faces I suppose if you travel at the same time most days. It would be embarrasing being caught without a ticket then wouldn't it?
And I don't think you are cynical at all....I would be the same.
:-)
