Can anyone tell me if it's traditional to give gifts to thise celebrating Diwali? I have some team members who will be observing this festival this week, and am keen to recognise this .... should some small token be given and if so what?

well it's the festival of light and so maybe some fancy candles. Do they give you easter eggs when it is easter?
Sweets are a traditional and welcome Diwali gift, as are images of the god Ganesh.

As you are not Hindi I think fancy candles would be very appropriate and much appreciated.
