Im fostering a little dog that was abandoned because she was pregnant, she had her pups 6 days ago, sadly 1 died, Iv just noticed she is bleeding a tiny bit from her bottom, it was a little thick , reminded me of a clott, apart from that shes fine, eating and drinking and is a great mum........anyone know what it could be.....

I think it's worth getting checked out by your vet.Good luck to her and her babies, and good of you to foster.Hope all goes well for the little mum.g.
It's probably just related to the pregancy but best to ring vet for advice, or a dog shelter.

thanks guys, Im going to keep an eye on it, there dosnt seem to be anything there now....shes such a sweet little thing...and her babies are chubby little things......
This is probably the last of the afterbirth. Your vet will probably give her an oxytocin injection to make sure she is completely cleared out.

He may also want to give her some calcium to prevent eclampsia which can be fatal if not treated, and can occur when she is feeding the pups and they are draining her of calcium.

Definitely get her checked though,
keep up the good work!
good on you-justy-for doing what you are doing--all the best to you and your foster 'kids'
Hey justmetoo, just wanted to say how chuffed I am to read that you have taken the little dog in. You are a wee smasher - I wish that there were more folk like you around.

aaahhh, shucks guys.....thanks for that...we went to the vet this morning, shes fine had all her babies checked as well, vet said hed never seen such chubby pups...alls well, and I have decided and hubby agrees...we will keep her, so once shes stopped feeding the pups we will get her "done ", I know the gog pound has a lot of interest in the pups, so they will be rehomed to caring and vetted homes.......thanks guys..
if only more saintly folk as you & lesshorrids!
A big hug for you, justmetoo .....

Question Author
a mixture of everything I think.....lol..but very sweet natured, from day 1 she lets you pick up her babies, today I was sitting on the floor talking to her and she plopped 1 of her babies on my knee.....!!!!!!
Hey justmetoo, I wish I was your neighbour ..... would love to see her and her little wee pups (and you too!)x
Question Author
aahhh, thanks Mrs C....her pups are sooooooooo lovely, chubby chunky little things, I just cant understand why she was dumped...but it is rife here, they through them from moving cars.....dreadfull..
I know exactly what you mean, justmetoo, and nothing disgusts me more.

Pure evil.
Whether you are an animal lover or not to dump a young single mother and her babies is just cruel.

You seem to have gotten yourself a good friend - and you have proven to her that you are loving and caring.

I hope that you both have a long life together and that she chases many evil cats.
