My Polo's EPC light came on at startup. It stays on but the car runs fine and the brake lights work fine. I normally get the light off by rummaging under the bonnet for obvious loose connections or split hoses. But today I tried this and the EPC light did go out but the car wouldn't start. The starter was turning, but I didn't hear the usual whir when I turned the key. I suspected the immobiliser or the fuel pump. I turned the key with the car in gear to lurch forward, working on the "loose connection" theory. Hey Presto, I heard the whir and the car started fine... although the EPC light returned! Any ideas, Folks?

best thing you can do is get it plugged into a diagnostic computer, this will give you an idea which sensor is faulty or where the loose connection is.
retrack the connections from the Battery to the Earth- solinod-starter-Earth, then the starter bolts to the Gearbox.
