Sailor - Drake/Armada + Drake is also a male duck...
and the letters I have from other clues are D?A?E...

I hadn't come to that corner yet, but I wouldn't have got DRAKE straight from the clue!

No fancy anagrams ....

Drake was a sailor
Duck (drake - male duck) is at home on the water

That's how I arrived at the answer. Anybody using a more complicated method of arriving at the answer?

I've just finished... pretty damn easy today... I probably would have got DRAKE from the letters there, but not from an empty grid :(
