I don't think there is an appropriate age gap between siblings is there? It all depends on you and your families circumstances and personal choices.

I've found most folk prefer to have children close together in age. I however went the total opposite. There is a 16 year age gap between my two and that for me worked very well. I was able to devote 100% of me to my first one, and then when she was more or less independant of me, I had my youngest and again, I'm able to devote 100% of me to her.

wow that is an age gap
lol yeah it is- however I've found it brilliant, I've now got a 20 year old babysitter who I trust completely- well providing I pay her anyway! and the two of them adore each other, my youngest literally thinks the sun shines out of her big sisters backside.

like having 2 mums i suppose lol
I have 4 yrs between my 1st and 2nd and 3 yrs between my 2nd and 3rd. My eldest gets on really well with my youngest, and my middle child gets on really well with my youngest yet the elder 2 fight like cat and dog.

Three years in my two. If I had my time again I would go for 5 years.
i have a five year old and am due with second soon, i think it will be a lovely age gap. it was so nice to have just the one child for that time but i guess with third or more its different so i am thinking i would like to have the third quite close, maybe a year and a half but will have to see! i think it would be so nice to have grown up children and then have more.
my brothers nearly 2 years older

im a twin so my older sister is only 5 minutes older!

and my younder brothers is just over 3 years younger

quite close together age wise, but we get on pretty well :)
My first 2 are 18 months apart to the day - 9th April & 9th Oct and my youngest is 19 months younger as I didn't want them to share a birthday - I was very "organised"!
They are now 17, 16 and 14 and have always got on really well.
When they were little they were just too young to realise that we were bringing another baby into the nest!
I always felt that 1 takes up all your time and energy, 3 couldn't take up any more!
hi my sister is 25 years and she has a 7 year old daughter and she just found out she is pregnant again, she will be nearly 8 when the baby is born, so to me it does not matter for th childrens gap age at all, so dont worry about it

There is just under 6 years between mine. I always planned it that way.
