does anyone have any advice about how i can get my kids more involved in my pregnancy. My oldest son is 9 and my youngest is 5 years old, the 9 year old has adhd and is very emotional at times (although i think this is more to do with his age and hormones than the adhd).

I am currently 8 weeks pregnant and found out at 4 weeks, i told them straight away and they were really excited , i have been showing them pictures from pregnancy books and explaining what changes are happening but i dont want to go on about the baby constantly to them and make them sick of hearing about it and also dont want them to feel that this big thing is happening and they are not a part of it.

Has anyone got any ideas of how i can keep them involved and make them think it is their baby too and not just mummy and daddys?

The best thing is to be guided by them.

As baby becomes more evident, they will probably start to ask more questions, and that is the time to re-enforce the concept that baby is a new member of the family and to be loved and love everyone who is already here.

Your little girl is young enough to simply accept that a new member is coming along, your little boy may need a little more attention.

Do haver a word with both their teachers who will have experience of dealing with this situation, and ask each of them to flag up any concerns and keep you advised of any issues the children may have at school.

You are obviously a very caring and considerate mum, I am sure you will have no problem encouraging your children to love their little brother or sister as much as you love them.
Its pretty early for them to be able to understand as they cannot see any physical changes in you yet

I would suggest this book http://www.shop-com.co.uk/There's_a_House_Insi de_My_Mummy_(Orchard_picturebooks)_Giles_Andre ae_:_Illustrated_by_Vanessa_Cabban-24140105-32 178090-p!.shtml?sourceid=309 which i got for my 3 year old.
