on holiday recently, i was reading a menu board outside a lovely restaurant. I saw "mushroom amd leek crumble" on the vegetarian options.
As leeks and mushrooms are two of my favourite veg and i LOVE sweet crumble, i am very intrigued!
Sadly I didn't get time to read the description of the dish and so have no idea what it was like. I presume it was in a creamy/cheesy sauce.
Does anyone know of a similar recipe?
What is a savoury crumble? Just a crumble, without the sugar?
I would appreciate any ideas, x

Oooo!...that sounds yummy!....I would put lots of herbs in the crumble mixture ...and maybe some parmesan cheese. You could use it over roast veggies, or chicken and leeks, or sausage and potatoe.....or... ;-)
I just may try that at work..thanks!!

*go back and try it!!
I would use breadcrumb with herbs as opposed to the flour and butter crumble mix.
I've not tried a savoury crumble, but I think I probably use something like 4 oz wholewheat flour, 2 oz marg and 1 oz rolled porridge oats. If it felt dry whilst rubbing in the marg, then just add some more marg/butter.

For the filling, I'd probably saut sliced leeks and mushrooms in a little olive oil, add a small amount of flour then some stock and stir well until it thickened up (or use white wine.... ). Pop the veg & sauce into a heatproof dish and top with the crumble mix.... Knowing me, I'd now be adding some parmesan and cayenne pepper to the topping and bake it for about 30-40 mins at Gas 6, 200 deg C.... If I could find a way to add other veg I would so (stuff like sliced celery, chillies, pak choi, garlic and even some fine green beans or other baby veg).
If you go onto google savoury crumble, the veg society do a nice recipe for it.g.

that's really odd, garner, i tried googling earlier and there wasn't a savoury one in sight!

Thanks for everyone's suggestions, there are some great ideas there. One of the recipes I found suggested chopped nuts too.

My mum said make a cobbler recipe but leave as breadcrumbs.
I'm thinking mushrooms, goats cheese and roasted red peppers mmmmm
